Now i will write a guide in using a grill pan. This is a very simple and easy guide for all of you. This guide applicable for a full cast iron grill pan or the non stick grill pan
- Choosing a right grill pan. Grill pans are available in 2 basic sizes. The first is an oblong shape that is designed to fit over 2 burners. If you used to grill food in large portion, then you should take this one. why ? because These kind of pans can handle a large amount of food. Besides of the large size, they also have a flat surface on the other side. And that side is very useful, you can use that side to make pancake for breakfast, you also could prepare an omelette and etc. The other type pan is the smaller one, with diameter size below 30cm. If you leave alone and used to cook for less than 3 people, this one is the perfect choice. this type have a lightweight with single handle and they will saves you a lot when you have to clean up and store it in your cabinet.
- Make sure that the pan is removed from any coat or layer. Cast iron pans often come with a protective coating on them to prevent them from rusting on the store shelf. Remove this coating before use by scrubbing the pan thoroughly with water and a scouring pad.
- Warming up. This is a warming up session before you use your grill pan. Pour some vegetable oil on the grill pan and then rub the oil all over the grill pan with your paper towel. It will make your grill pan has a thin layer of the vegetable oil. And then the question is what that thin layer for ? this thin layer of oil will prevent your grill pan rusted and keep your from sticking when you use it. but applying the thin layer of vegetable oil hasn't complete our warming up session, put that pan in an oven at 176 degree celcius for 45 to 70 minute. after that your grill pan is ready to use.
- How to Clean Grill pan. If you have a non stick grill pan, then you will have much more benefit and save extra energy when cleaning grill pan after use it. After you use your grill pan you should start cleaning it very soon. Try to clean it with water and soft sponge, if it feel difficult to clean it perfectly then try to use some kosher salt and scrub it. It is not recommended to use soap on a cast iron pan, because it will get rid of the vegetable oil that you already applied before.
- Store it. After you clean it up, put the grill pan until get dry, after the grill pan completely dry, applied a thin layer of vegetable oil again and then store it in your cabinet. make sure your cabinet is dry places too. applying a thin layer of vegetable oil will prevent the pan from get rust.
